The WBA Embarrasses Boxing By Ranking Jake Paul

The WBA ranking YouTuber Jake Paul #14 at cruiserweight after beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is inexcusable. This is nothing more than a money-grab to justify adding a belt in his next fight. Furthermore, the organization should be ashamed of such a desperate attempt to turn Paul into a legit fighter.

Boxing is on a downward trajectory due to foolishness like this. Fighting 59-year-old Hall of Fame inductee Mike Tyson was proof that Paul isn’t serious about the sport. The WBA willfully skipping their ranking process can only be considered an attempt at a money-grab.

Several pundits believed that Paul should have lost credibility for facing Chavez Jr, who hasn’t done anything relevant in the sport since perhaps 2012. This circus show has only just gotten started. Golden Boy Promotions chairman Oscar De La Hoya using this opportunity to talk about a fight with unified champion Giberto “Zurdo” Ramirez shouldn’t come as a surprise.
