Dillian Whyte temporarily suspended by WBC until investigation complete!
Dillian Whyte’s WBC heavyweight mandatory spot is dangerously close to going up in smoke. The WBC recently announced they have provisionally suspended him until further notice. The spot he fought so hard to secure is in serious jeopardy.
The WBC released their statement detailing the status of him as their interim champion and the mandatory to WBC champion Deontay Wilder. They have informed Whyte and his team of their ruling.
As we previously reported, Whyte tested positive for a banned substance. The UK Anti-Doping agency, detected the substance prior to his July 20 fight against Oscar Rivas. While VADA hasn’t spoken on the situation, the WBC will look further into this situation via their own investigation.
Until all issues are resolved, Whyte along with his promoter Eddie Hearn will have to play the “waiting game.” We expect a hearing in the near future to allow him and his team state their case.
