WBO Champion Debora Dionicius Ordered to Face Segolene Lefebvre
Undefeated Segolene “Majestic” Lefebvre (16-0, 1KO) is getting a chance to get back the title. On December 1, the WBO declared the belt vacant after Lefebvre could not defend the title due to suffering an injury. It appears she has recovered and is ready to regain the title. This prompted the WBO to order a fight with current champion Debora “La Gurisa” Dionicius (35-4, 6KO).
The WBO sent letters to the teams stating a 10-day negotiation period is in effect. Without an agreement, a purse bid will be ordered.
“Please be advised that the parties herein are granted 10 days upon issuance of this notice to commence negotiations for the subject matter bout and reach an agreement. If an agreement is not reached within the time prescribed, purse bid proceedings will be ordered according to WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests.
A CHANCE TO GET BACK THE TITLE
Lefebvre was supposed to defend the title against former IBF flyweight champion Alondra Garcia on October 29. However, Majestic’s injury required surgery, resulting in the organization naming her champion in recess. The good thing is the organization is keeping its word by allowing Lefebvre to immediately fight for the title upon returning.
La Gurisa is a former IBF super flyweight champion with twelve successful title defenses. On December 23, the Argentinian won the vacant WBO junior featherweight championship after defeating multiple-time divisional champion “La Tigresa” Marcela Acuna.
3Kings Boxing will continue to monitor this situation and provide any updates.
