Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury Sign Contracts for April 23 Championship Fight!
On the last day to sign his portion of the contract to face WBC heavyweight champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (31-0-1, 22KOs), mandatory challenger Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (28-2, 19KOs) finally put pen to paper, according to Sky Sports. The fight will take place on April 23 at Wembley Stadium in London.
Whyte, who’s normally extremely vocal, has been surprisingly quiet. However, now with everything signed and sealed, maybe that’ll change. The Body Snatcher hasn’t fought since exacting revenge on Alexander Povetkin by stopping him in four rounds in March of 2021.
Whyte, 34, spent years and years of trying to secure a title shot against then-heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. He has a chance to finally become a world champion and, in the process, hand Tyson Fury his first professional loss. His low-key approach to this fight could very well signal just how focused he is. This fight won’t be easy considering he’s facing arguably the best heavyweight in the world today in Fury. Furthermore, the Gypsy King is brimming with even more confidence after a destructive knockout win over Wilder in their trilogy bout in October of 2021.
