Deontay Wilder unimpressed by Anthony Joshua’s win over Andy Ruiz!
On December 7, Anthony “AJ” Joshua (23-1. 21 KO’s) won his heavyweight WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts back by way of unanimous decision.
His victory was nowhere near as excited or dramatic as when Andy Ruiz Jr (33-2, 22 KO’s) took them, but a win is a win. Now that AJ is back in command of the straps, he resumes his strategic positioning as the most belt holding champion in the division.
AJ’S BOUT BORED THE BOMBER
Chief amongst those who were underwhelmed with Joshua’s performance was WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KO’s). Wilder has unsuccessfully sought a fight with AJ for years.
The boisterous Alabaman’s WBC strap is the only item presenting Joshua from being the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
In an interview grant to EsNews, the WBC champion explained how he was anything but impressed by AJ’s showing. Wilder himself has staged two professional rematches of his own, with a third on the way.
One with Bermane “B Ware” Stiverne (25-4-1, 21 KO’s) and the other with Luis “King Kong” Ortiz (31-2, 26 KO’s).
In both do-overs, Wilder did annihilate each man in much quicker and efficient fashion than in the first outing. This is precisely why Wilder did not respect AJ’s choosing to fight in the largely non-confrontational manner that he did.
“A win is a win, no matter how it is and how it look, but he did what he had to do. But, you know for me, as being the champion, if you want to say you the man you got to come in there and tear shit up!
“That’s what I’m thinking, especially if I got six inches of height advantage. I got eight inches of reach advantage. I’m not about run around the fucking ring, you know what I’m saying?
“I’m about to tear your ass up and get you out of there or definitely put you in the hospital.”
WHO’S THE TRUE KING?
When asked how he thinks he would fair in against Joshua, Wilder did not mince words! He was very upfront and candid in his opinion that he would wipe the floor with AJ.
Joshua has already stated that he will face both of his mandatory challengers, Kubrat “The Cobra” Pulev (28-1, 14 KO’s) (IBF #1 contender) and Oleksandr Usyk (17-0, 13 KO’s) (WBO #1 contender) before he can think about Wilder.
The Bronze Bomber also has a rematch to satisfy with Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (29-0-1, 20 KO’s) before he can realistically turn his attention to Joshua.
Provided both men get through their current gauntlet of competition, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually put pen to paper and go head-to-head.
3kingsboxing will certainly stop on top of this heated rivalry.
“I will demolish him. I will terminate him. It won’t even be competition. Not as far as I see it, he already has a fear of me and we know this for facts.
“We know from the first time around, we knew who was ducking who. They didn’t even want to talk about the fight as you can see, which is sad.
“You know, they should want to unify, they should want to do it, especially after all this you know the people is going to want that.
“That’s the main thing, but they tried to dodge around me, they didn’t want to say nothing about it because they know that I’m a dangerous fighter.”
