Yarde continues to roll with the sixteenth knockout of his career!
Walter Sequeira opened the fight attempting to smother the WBO Inter-Continental champion and had some success doing it. Anthony Yarde had some trouble trying to create space to have optimal leverage on his power shots.
In addition, he would find himself getting caught a few times with a chopping right hand from the challenger. However, this pace would be one too difficult to maintain by Sequeira.
In round four, with fatigue setting, Yarde was able to drop his opponent three times before the referee waived off the final count.
This champion improved his record to 17-0 with 16 knockouts while making the fourth defense of his title. He is currently ranked #2 by the WBO and could possibly be in line for a shot at champion Eleider Alvarez in the future.
In the post-fight interview, however, he made no mention of attempting to get a shot at the WBO title. Instead, he made it clear that he is “still learning.”
Fans will have to wait to see what is next for the 27 year-old.
