Quigg steamrolls Briones

Mario Briones came into the fight producing high volume on the former WBA super bantamweight champion. He stood his ground and keep firing shots even though he would get caught by some big chopping right hands.

Consequently, when a fighter is taking big shots in sequence, he/she can only take so many. In the second round, Quigg backed his opponent up with another big right hand. He had his opponent on the ropes as he unloaded a flurry of shots, prompting the referee to stop the bout.

Quigg notches this victory improving his record to 35-2-2, with 26 knockouts. In the pre and post-fight interviews, he mentioned he is ready for another title shot. His last bout saw him lose a title bid to WBO champion Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision.
