Yoenis Tellez Pitches A Shutout Over Joseph Jackson
In a junior middleweight showdown, Yoenis “El Bandolero” Tellez (8-0, 6KO) was flawless against Joseph “Action” Jackson (19-1, 15KO).
Tellez a Cuban decorated amateur, fought well behind a stiff power jab that kept Action on the book foot in the fight. He was the stronger and sharper fighter in the contest, fighting well off the front foot.
Jackson tried to fight back before tasting a vicious right-hand left hook combination that put him on the canvas. He managed to get up and narrowly survived the round after taking repeated hard shots.
Over the next few rounds, El Bandolero easily controlled the fight as he landed quick counters over Jackson’s low jab. He even started landing hard shots to the body looking to slow down the movement of the elder fighter.
Jackson fought in survival mode – moving around the ring, not looking to engage, as those body shots by Tellez were clearly painful. The Cuban continued to stalk the fighter from North Carolina with body shots that slowly took the fight out of his opponent.
It was an easy fight to score as all three judges scored it 100-89 in favor of Tellez. Ranked #7 (WBC) and #9 (WBA) with trainer Ronnie Shields, he has a bright future in a stacked division.
