Zhilei Zhang Looking To End Joseph Parker Early!
In his first fight of the year, on March 8, interim WBO heavyweight champion Zhilei “Big Bang” Zhang (26-1-1, 21 KO’s) will face the challenger of Joseph “Lupesoliai La’auliolemalietoa” Parker (34-3, 23 KO’’s). In that duel, Zhang, 3Kings Boxing’s 2024 Fighter to Look Out For, will make the second defense of the interim title that he stopped Joe Joyce to claim back on April 15 of last year.
Currently, Big Bang is riding high on back-to-back knockout victories and looking to continue his momentum. A solid win over the battle-tested Parker would certainly serve that function. And as he revealed to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, Zhang plans on bringing plenty of ferocity to the ring.
“I am in the training camp of hell. I believe the gates of hell will open and Big Bang is coming with the fire from hell. It’s going to burn the opponents ashes to ashes, dust to dust!”
STRIKE WHILE THE IRON IS HOT!
This is a dangerous fight for both men for multiple reasons. To begin, each of the two principal characters suffered a loss within the last year and a half. Another loss would unceremoniously fling the loser tumbling back down the divisional rankings. Both men are durable and heavy-handed. As for the interim champion, Zhang, 40, he has no time whatsoever to waste on rebuilding his career if served a fresh defeat.
