Brandon Adams chooses to take on Jermall Charlo instead of Gennady Golovkin!
We at 3KingsBoxing reported that Brandon Adams, winner of season five of the boxing series “The Contender” was mulling two offers in the aftermath of his win; a fight with former unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin or a fight with WBC Interim Middleweight champion Jermall Charlo.
Well, Adams (21-2, 13 KOs) has made his decision. The fight with Charlo (28-0, 21 KOs) will take place on June 15 in the favorite’s hometown of Houston, Texas. The fight will be televised by Showtime.
While Charlo is a “world champion” (even if it is interim), it’s interesting that Adams would go for a fight against him rather than a presumably bigger money fight against the older Kazakh fighter.
Maybe in his mind, Adams feels the interim champion would not be any tougher to conquer than Golovkin. Maybe the offer he received from Golovkin’s camp wasn’t as much as the offer to fight Charlo. Either way, it’s hard to envision him defeating either man on a realistic level!
