Katzourkis Possible Title Shot Next After Defeating Adams
With a possible title shot next, Andreas Katzourakis (15-0, 10KO) got the nod from the judges by a split decision against Brandon “Cannon” Adams (25-4, 16KO) in a close fight.
The early rounds were hard to score as the two men fought in a phonebooth. Katzourakis went to work throwing body shots and uppercuts with Adams against the ropes.
Yet, Cannon looked comfortable on the ropes, firing back with hooks to the body and head. He even started using the angles to spin off the ropes and catch the younger fighter with hard shots.
Katzourakis kept applying the pressure and refusing to let Adams off the ropes. He landed hard countershots and started throwing more combination punches.
Adams looked to keep the fight in the middle of the ring by boxing. He found another gear and landed hard counters with brutal body shots that hurt Katzourakis momentarily.
Down the stretch, Katzourakis kept coming forward even after receiving punishing combinations from Adams. In the end, one judge scored it for Adams 97-93, with two judges giving it to Katzourakis 97-93 and 96-94.
