Kell Brook Done Chasing Amir Khan!

Within the UK boxing scene, one of most interesting matches to be made in the last decade or so would be Kell “The Special One” Brook (39-2, 27 KO’s) versus Amir “King” Khan (34-5, 21 KO’s).

Both are UK born pugilist and each are highly skilled and the bragging rights for the winner would have been off the charts.

Yet, despite how badly fight fans craved for this dust-up to become a reality, it was never pieced together. Since 2012 (and maybe earlier), at different times, Brook would call out Khan and vice versa.

However, if we were being honest, Khan never really gave the impression that he wanted the assignment as much as Brook did.

IF YOU SCARED, SAY YOU SCARED!!

Perhaps Khan didn’t want to provide his countryman rival the substantial payday. Naturally, there are those who are convinced that he was flat out scared of Brook and therefore wanted nothing to do with the fight.

While there is a large contingent of individuals who speculate that Khan was simply not willing to take the chance at losing to a hometown fighter such as the Special One.

Regardless of the rationale for why the bout never came to be, it appears now that it officially is one of those prizefights that will forever be a missed opportunity. This unfortunate information was revealed by Brook himself.

After going live on social media with Eddie Hearn, the Special One shared with the world that he had finally been drained of all desire to lace up the gloves for a professional scrap with Khan.

“I’ve given that angle up because it’s gone past the line now for me. You know I’ve done everything that’s been asked of me to make it happen and still got nowhere.

“I’ll take that fight but when we talk about money that’s when things can get sticky.”

Seeing both fighters are still in the market for their next in-ring foe, it will be interesting to see who they end up going to war with. Yet, if anything is clear, they will not be fighting one another!
