Canelo Alvarez stops Rocky Fielding without braking a sweat

Boxing biggest attraction, unified middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez moved up to super middleweight to challenge WBA regular champion Rocky Fielding.

Alvarez making his debut fight on DAZN this was the tale of a decent big man against a great little man.

The Recap

From the opening bell it was clear who the elite fighter is.

Alvarez wasted no time as he got inside and went to the body early landing the left hook to the liver. Eventually, his superior boxing skills would do enough damage to drop the champion with a body shot.

Fielding would survive the early knockdown, however, never attempted to use his height and reach advantage in the fight.

Fans could see early on the red marks on the body from the damage dealt by Canelo.

For three rounds, the challenger employed touching the champion to the head then finishing his combination with a left or right hook to the body. Fielding could never get into any kind of rhythm because he could not take the damage.

Taking a knee, recovering, taking a knee, recovering seemed to be the only thing Fielding could do to help himself. This happened twice over the first two rounds and another time after being put down in the final round.

Finally after immediately recovering from touching the canvas from a chopping right to the head, the champion took another knee from a left hook to the liver which ultimately prompted the referee to stop the bout.

Alvarez can now be dubbed a title holder in three-divisions.

The question now is “what’s next,” with challengers ready and willing in both divisions.

This puts team Alvarez in the driver seat with their fighter only getting better with every performance. Fans and pundits will stay tuned to see what 2019 will bring from Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN!
