Charlo vs Centeno for the right to call out Golovkin
This Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, Jermall Charlo will face Hugo Centeno Jr in the co-feature on the undercard of Adrien Broner vs Jessie Vargas live on Showtime.
The fight will be for the interim WBC middleweight title, with the winner moving on to become the mandatory to unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, who holds the regular WBC title.
Originally, a matchup between these two was set to take place on March 3rd, but Centeno suffered a rib injury which lead to the fight being added to this Saturday’s line-up.
Charlo is the big favorite heading into this fight. In his first fight at middleweight he scored a fourth round TKO over Jorge Sebastian. Now the Texas native looks to keep things going against Centeno, who’s coming in on a two fight win streak after scoring a mild upset over Immanuwel Aleem.
Centeno will be looking to score the biggest victory of his career against Charlo and put himself in prime position to fight for a title in the future.
While I expect Centeno to put up a good fight, I think Charlo will simply be too much as the fight goes on. With the interim WBC middleweight title on the line expect both guys to be at their best but Charlo to be a little better.
Both guys are confident heading into the fight, but only one has been a champion and currently undefeated with dynamite in his fists. That guy is Jermall Charlo.
