Cheavon Clarke Executes Eighth Round Destruction of Ellis Zorro
It was a case of pressure bursting pipes for unbeaten cruiserweight Cheavon “C4” Clarke (9-0, 7 KOs) as he broke down and ultimately stopped Ellis Zorro (17-2, 7 KOs) in the eighth round.
Fighting at the Direct Arena in Leeds, England, Clarke applied steady pressure from the opening bell. Zorro tried to use his height and reach to keep his opponent at bay. But his punches were slow and sloppy.
As the rounds continued, Clarke continued to march forward and land more consistently. His power was also starting to make an impact. In the closing seconds of round eight, a hard right hand unsettled him. A follow-up right hand from Clarke caused Zorro to crumble to the canvas. The referee wisely said ‘no more’ and waved the fight over.
Clarke is currently ranked fourth by the WBA. Promoted by Matchroom, they hope to put C4 in a world title shot in the next six to twelve months.
