Dereck Chisora Promotes Rematch with Kubrat Pulev
Ageless wonders Dereck “War” Chisora (32-12, 23KO) and Kubrat “The Cobra” Pulev (29-2, 14KO) are going to rematch in what could be the last hooray for both fighters.
THE CAREER OF CHISORA
Chisora has been around the block and has fought almost every name thought of in the sport of boxing. Despite coming up short on several occasions, Chisora continues to remain relevant in the division mostly because of his cult-like following from the United Kingdom fans.
He is coming off back-to-back defeats against former WBO champion Joseph Parker in 2021. His resume is essentially a list of champions. Past foes include Tyson Fury, David Haye, and a host of title challengers. The 38-year-old once challenged Hall of Famer Vitali Klitschko back in 2012.
A LOOK AT PULEV’S CAREER
At 41, Pulev is even older. However, his resume is no joke either. A two-time title challenger, his only two defeats were in championship contests against former unified champions Wladimir Klitschko and Anthony Joshua.
The Bulgarian has faced former title challengers like Hughie Fury, Tony Thompson, and Kevin Johnson. He recently defeated Jerry Forrest in a return fight since losing to Joshua in 2020.
WILL THE LOSER FINALLY RETIRE?
In their last battle, back in 2016, Pulev won by split decision winning the EBU European title. Chisora, always ready to fight, took to social media informing the fans to get ready.
At some point in their careers, these two gladiators will hang up the gloves, and perhaps this is a fight where the loser will do just that. But until then, fans can see the fight live on DAZN from the O2 Arena in the United Kingdom on July 9.
