Paul Butler Welcomes an Undisputed Fight with Naoya Inoue!

After watching unified 118-pound champion Naoya “Monster” Inoue (23-0, 20KOs) destroy multi-weight world champion and future Hall of Famer Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire (42-7, 28KOs) in two rounds, WBO champion Paul “Baby Faced Assassin” Butler (34-2, 15KOs) wants next.

Speaking with Seconds Out, he expressed his desire to fight the Japanese sensation for all the belts at bantamweight.

“I hope he does want to try and be undisputed.”

It’d be an absolute honor to step into the ring pound-for-pound greats.”

“Joe Gallagher will come up with the game plan. It’ll be a tough task, but its a task I’m willing to take.”

After the destruction of Donarie, Inoue versus Butler is the obvious fight to make. Butler won the interim title after defeating Jonas Sultan by unanimous decision in April. That came after the fallout of John Riel Casimero being removed from the fight with Butler after he violated the British Boxing Board of Control medical guidelines. Casimero was recently stripped of the title after the WBO board voted to strip him as champion, which in turn saw Butler elevated as the full champion.

With Butler expressing his desire to face Inoue, there appears to be nothing standing in the way of this undisputed title fight from happening.

3Kings Boxing will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
