Oscar De La Hoya Says One Last Issue is Holding Up Davis vs Garcia
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has set social media on fire with an update on what holding up the mega-fight between multi-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (28-0, 26KO) versus Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (23-0, 19KO).
Boxing fans are in a rhythm with hearing bad news at every turn by now. It seems there is one last hiccup that is keeping the fight from being a done deal, which is the networks arguing over who will take lead in the event of a rematch.
THE BACKSTORY
In November 2022, the boxing community rejoiced with the news that Davis and Garcia had finally agreed to fight sometime this year. After Tank dispatched WBA Regular junior lightweight champion Hector Garcia, he acknowledged the fight with King Ry was next, with Showtime broadcasting the fight on April 15.

On January 15, De La Hoya dropped a bombshell by claiming to have not received a contract from Team Davis. He issued a deadline with the threat of dropping talk on the fight. Things got smoothed over after the Golden Boy CEO let it be known he had received the contract.
OSCAR DE LA HOYA AIRS OUT THE FINAL ISSUE
Now here we are today, and after taking a good length of time looking over the contract, De La Hoya set social media ablaze with a series of statements calling for DAZN to take the lead in the rematch in the event Garcia wins.
What is frustrating about this process is it should have already been worked out last year, or at the very least before Davis’ fight with Garcia on January 7. With this last obstacle to go, fans are hoping both sides can come to an agreement and finally deliver on a big fight in men’s boxing.
