Joe Cordina Predicts A Victory Over IBF World Champion Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov

With the opportunity to get back the title against IBF junior lightweight champion Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (17-0-1, 14), former champion Joe “The Wizard” Cordina (15-0, 9KO) is already claiming a victory for the upcoming April 22 showdown.

The one thing fighters hate is to lose the title outside the ring. Whether it’s on the scale or due to an injury, nothing gets under their skin more. This brings us to Cordina, who was all set to defend the title against Rakhimov before suffering an injury led to him being stripped of the championship belt.

Adding salt to the wound, he had to sit on the sideline and watch Rakhimov win the vacant title with a ninth-round stoppage of Zelfa Barrett in November 2022.

Fully healed and ready to get back into the ring, The Wizard has been itching to get back the title he believes rightfully belongs to him. Cordina has not been in the ring since winning the title after stretching then-champion Kenichi Ogawa in June 2022. Still, he promises to leave the champion laid out in the same fashion he did Ogawa.

Cordina wasted no time taking to social media with news of the fight and staking his claim of becoming a two-time champion.
