JoJo Diaz movs on from Tevin Farmer!

3KingsBoxing has learned former featherweight world title challenger Joseph “JoJo” Diaz (29-1, 15KO) will return to action on Sept. 21 to fight Jesus Cuadro at the The Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, Mexico.

The fight will be aired live on Facebook and is part of the Golden Boy Promotion Series, Golden Boy Fight Night.

Defending the WBA “Gold” Super-Featherweight title the 26 year-old Diaz is looking forward to the opportunity to fight in Mexico.

“I’m ready to defend my WBA Gold Title in Mexicali! I want to show everyone that I am proud to be Mexican American.

“I’m ready to put on an entertaining performance for my raza. I’m going to put everything on the line for those who have been with me since the beginning.

Joseph Diaz Jr – Super Featherweight Contender

For Cuadro (18-5, 14 KO’s), the fight against Diaz represents the biggest opportunity of his career. While the 33-year old from Caracas, Venezuela respects Diaz he feels confident he can win and thinks his natural size advantage is the key.

“Joseph Diaz Jr. is an elite fighter, so we have to defeat him. I’m a natural 130-pounder, and I’ve even fought at lightweight.

“That will give me an advantage because I’m going to go into the fight with a lot of strength. I can’t tell you how the fight will finish, but I can tell you that I’ll be walking away with my hand raised in victory.

Jesus Cuadro – Super Featherweight Contender

In recent months, Diaz has spent as much time twitter talking up a fight against the likes of WBA super featherweight champion Andrew Cancio and IBF champ Tevin Farmer than in the ring actually fighting.

Therefore, in many ways this upcoming contest represents a stay-busy/tune-up fight to what he hopes leads to another world title opportunity in 2020.
