Roman Gonzalez Aiming For A Return On GGG/Alvarez 2 Undercard

Chocolatito Hopes To Return In May

Roman Gonzalez is looking to return to action on the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez/Gennady Golovkin rematch according to Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.

Gonzalez is a four-division world champion and former P4P king. He has suffered back to back losses to Srisket Sor Rungvisai with the first being a controversial decision loss on the undercard of Golovkin/Daniel Jacobs back in March. The second loss was anything but controversial as Rungvisai dominated Gonzalez from the outset and knocked him out.

Gonzalez could really use a confidence booster right now and Loeffler don’t think being on the “Super Fly 2” card is the right step in regards to the Nicaraguans future.

For Superfly 2, no, we’re thinking about what could come back in the Golovkin fight, if it’s with Canelo maybe on that same card,” said Loeffler when asked if Gonzalez will be fighting on the SuperFlyd 2 card. ”It’s a matter of making some calls and let’s see what they say,” said Loeffler about Gonzalez’s management.

Most observers feel like the 115lb division may be a little too much for Gonzalez as he’s seemed to struggle in all 3 fight’s there. He won a unanimous decision over Carlos Caudras in 2016 at the weight but he definitely didn’t appear to be his normal self.
