Roman Gonzalez v Juan Francisco Estrada 3 Targeting November or December 2022

The final chapter between future Hall of Famers Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (51-3, 41KOs) and 115-pound WBA and WBC franchise champion “El Gallo” Juan Francisco Estrada (42-3, 28KOs) looks like it will be taking place in either November or December. This is according to ESPN Knockout.

These two fighters have fought twice previously. The first fight took place back in 2012, which Gonzalez won by unanimous decision. More recently, the two tussled last October in an action-packed fight that was ultra competitive and voted 3Kings Boxing’s 2021 Fight of the Year. The result was somewhat controversial as Estrada won by a split decision, although many people felt that Chocolatito should’ve been the winner.

However, with that in the past, both of these warriors will look to settle their rivalry once and for all. This highly anticipated trilogy fight will almost certainly pick up right where the last one left off.

With about four or five months before the fight, it’ll be interesting to see if Estrada takes a tune-up type of fight to knock off some rust. He hasn’t fought since the win over Gonzalez last October. He also contracted the COVID-19 virus earlier this year. As for Chocolatito, he fought back in March, thoroughly dominating WBC 112-pound champion Julio Cesar Martinez for a unanimous decision.

We here at 3Kings Boxing will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
