Tevin Farmer Training Hard for Joseph Diaz

In preparation for his upcoming January 30 prizefight with Joseph “Jo-Jo” Diaz, IBF world super featherweight champion Tevin “The American Dream” Farmer is hard at work. The two will collide at the Meridian at Island Gardens venue located in Miami, Florida. The significant bout will air live on DAZN.

MARINATED TO PERFECTION

Without question, there are number of fight fans waiting on the edge of their seats for this dust-up. To begin, each of the two competitors are highly talented, motivated and arguably at the height of their physical ability. To add a cherry on top, Farmer and Diaz have engaged in quite a lengthy public feud.

There is no question that the two men respect one another. However, this doesn’t mean that they don’t want to take the head off the other. During their frequent confrontations on-line, or in person, this is the exactly same energy that they kept! Now, the time for jaw-jacking has ceased and it’s over its almost time for knuckle-slinging.

When Farmer faces his southpaw nemesis, he understands that it will not be an easy out. He firmly believes that Diaz will come to the squared-circle committed to doing whatever is needed to prevail. This is why Farmer is taking nothing for granted heading into his fifth consecutive defense of his IBF strap.

FOES TURNED ALLIES

To help aid in his preparation, Farmer enlisted the services of his onetime enemy, Jono “Celtic Warrior” Carroll (17-1-1, 3KO’s). After a very vitriolic build-up, Farmer fought Carroll in March of 2019. After besting the Celtic Warrior by way of unanimous decision, the two men quickly put their beef to bed.

“What we got to understand is we are all human and it’s only business. People don’t understand that it should never get so deep after a fight. Before the fight, it’s all man to man and you want to be the best and I want to be the best, but after we get in there and fight for twelve rounds, what do you have left but respect? And that’s kind of how it was you know?”

Having squashed their feud, and recognizing his talent and worth, Farmer thought it to be a good idea to invite Carroll to his camp. As a result, the American Dream reached out to his recent rival and asked if he was available. Tevin Farmer laid out the intriguing line of events in an interview conducted on the Nestor Gibbs channel on YouTube.

“It all started at a press conference. I told him [Jono Carroll] after I beat his ‘a’ [ass] I would take him to get his teeth fixed. And I beat him. So the next morning we took a drive in the Rolls Royce to get his teeth fixed and I took him. Since then it was just cool…

“I reached out to him. I asked him would be want to come down to help me get ready for the fight and he was like ‘Sure! I’ll come, I’d love to have the opportunity’ and etcetera etcetera, I booked his flight and got him here.”

THOUGHTS ON DIAZ

Having put on such a great camp with a great supporting cast, Farmer is more confident than ever for the fight. Although well prepared, the American Dream is still aware that he might have to endure a little hell on Earth to retain his title.

“Jo-Jo Diaz, I feel like he is a solid fighter and I also feel like he is coming to fight! He definitely coming to fight and I feel like he is one of the bigger names on my resume, that’s what I think…it’s not like he coming to lay down, he’s coming to fight. He’s going to come to win that’s for sure!

He’s going to come to win and it’s my job to do what I got to do to make the fight look easy. And that’s why I’m in the gym everyday training my butt off.”
