Floyd Schofield Calls Out Keyshawn Davis for a High-Stakes Lightweight Clash

WBA International lightweight titlist “Kid Austin” Floyd Schofield (15-0, 11KO) continues to establish himself in the division with his impressive performances. Now, he sets his sights on the big names in the lightweight division, starting with a showdown against Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (8-0, 6KO).

When WBA Regular welterweight champion Eimantas Stanionis versus Vergil Ortiz Jr fell through, the higher-ups at Golden Boy wisely placed Schofield’s fight against Haskell Rhodes as the main event. Kid Austin did not disappoint and put on an excellent performance en route to pitching a shutout (100-87) on all three judges’ scorecards.

SCHOFIELD IS SERIOUS ABOUT WANTING TO FIGHT KEYSHAWN DAVIS

Immediately after his triumph, Kid Austin wasted no time publicly calling out Keyshawn Davis when asked who he wanted to fight next.

“Keyshawn Davis, stop playing and send the contract. Look at me, I’m not playing, and to the whole 135 division, it starts with Keyshawn.”

Schofield has consistently expressed his desire to face Davis and other rising stars in the division. In 2022, he publicly called out Davis and Marc Castro, showcasing his eagerness to take on formidable opponents.

Earlier this year, Davis expressed a desire to silence Schofield, leading to a back-and-forth exchange on social media. Davis is currently ranked #15 by the WBC, #10 by the WBA, #12 by the IBF, and #8 by the WBO, while Schofield holds the #6 spot in the WBA rankings.

It is worth noting that fighters nearing a title opportunity choose to avoid dangerous opponents ranked lower than them, making the potential showdown between Schofield and Davis all the more intriguing.
