O’Shaquie Foster Minimizes Lamont Roach Jr’s Accomplishment

WBC junior lightweight champion O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster (22-2, 12KO) and WBA champion Lamont Roach Jr (24-1-1, 9KO) burn up social media following Ice Water’s call out.

On February 16, Foster rallied late and scored a knockdown to successfully retain the title against one-time feather title challenger Abraham Nova. The Texan offered no excuses for the subpar performance before calling for a unification with Roach when asked what’s next.

“I’ll take Lamont [Roach Jr] or the winner of Oscar [Valdez] and Liam Wilson, whichever one.”

The WBA champion quickly took to social media to poke fun at Foster for struggling against a guy who was stopped in a lower weight division.

“Nigga you just almost lost to a nigga who got clipped at 126. What the fuck you think Ima do to you.”

THINGS QUICKLY GOT HEATED

Roach is referring to when Nova was knocked out by Robiesy Ramirez in 2022. To be fair, Ramirez is a highly decorated amateur, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and a one-time WBO featherweight champion.

Thing escalated immediately as the two champions traded shots on social media. Boxing fans can only hope this leads to a unification taking place possibly next.

This fight should be easy to get made, as Foster would have no problem crossing the street for a unification. It’s worth mentioning he has fought on several different platforms in pursuit of becoming a champion.

Roach’s confidence has been riding high since defeating Hector Luis Garcia for the title in November 2023. Yet, he shouldn’t be throwing stones, as Foster pointed out Roach’s split decision victory was against someone who was stopped in their last fight.

The junior lightweight division is wide open for anyone to step forward and take over the division.
