Frank Martin Positioned for Potential Fights with Zepeda and Stevenson!

Top lightweight Frank “The Ghost” Martin (17-0, 12KO) is within an eyeshot of a WBA world title opportunity. He could face William Zepeda (27-0, 23KO) or two-divisional champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (19-0, 9KO). Keep in mind this depends on undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney moving up, if victorious against three-division champion Vasyl Lomachenko.

The Ghost is coming off a dominant performance victory over top contender Michel “La Zarza” Rivera (24-1, 14KO) in a WBA title eliminator. Furthermore, he is already reaping the benefits from that spectacular victory, as the WBA has given him Rivera’s number-two ranking spot.

The division is about to go through an overhaul as Haney will likely leave, opening the door for title opportunities for a lot of people. Ranked in the number-one slot is Ryan Garcia, who will be busy with the fight against Gervonta Davis later in the year.

MARTIN COULD LAND A TOP NAME FOR A TITLE FIGHT

When looking at the rankings, that leaves Martin, Zepeda, and Stevenson next in line. So three different boxing platforms will have to put personal issues aside to make these great fights.

Zepeda is coming off a big win over former IBF junior lightweight champion Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz on October 2022. That victory boosted the Mexican up the rankings to the number-three slot. In addition, his career is flourishing under the Golden Boy promotional banner.

Stevenson’s body of work speaks for itself, fighting under the Top Rank banner. The New Jersey native is a two-divisional champion and a former unified junior lightweight champion. Furthermore, he has been vocal about wanting to fight Martin and Zepeda.

Martin is a protégé of unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr and fights under Man Down Promotions which is part of Premier Boxing Champions. The Ghost is in a picture-perfect position with good things on the horizon in 2023.
