Sebastian Fundora Gives Dominant Performance to Easily Defeat Carlos Ocampo!

In his most recent call of duty, interim WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (20-0-1, 13 KO’s) fought Carlos “Chema” Ocampo (34-2, 22 KO’s). To become the interim champion, Fundora beat Erickson Lubin in a fantastic action-battle. In fact, The Towering Inferno defied expectations as Lubin was actually the favorite to win that duel. Now armed with the secondary title, Fundora was determined to keep his first place in line to face undisputed 154-pound champion Jermell Charlo.

Coming into the contest, Ocampo most certainly had an uphill fight ahead of him. While having nearly twice the professional experience of Fundora, Chema had only fought in the US on two separate occasions. Even worse, in the first match, versus unified champion Errol Spence Jr, Ocampo was stopped in the first round. Nevertheless, Chema, ranked #12 (WBC), came to the ring ready to prove his worth versus the ridiculously proportioned Fundora.

Sporting a significant height advantage, the Towering Inferno would get into a groove after three competitive early rounds with Ocampo.

ONE-SIDED STORY

The first three rounds were competitive, despite the significant height advantaged sported by The Towering Inferno. From round four on, it would be all Fundora, whose pressure and punch output would be simply too much for Chema.

In a bit of a bizarre move, referee Jack Riess went over to the California commission and requested that team Ocampo be fined for what he felt was intentional spilling of water and extending the break period. Other than that, there were no really noteworthy developments.

After the conclusion of twelve rounds, Fundora would be announced as the winner by way of a unanimous decision. The scores were 119-109, 118-110, and 117-111.

It’s evident that Fundora is now ready for a world title opportunity. However, with Jermell Charlo being preoccupied, he has to wait a little longer before his golden opportunity.
