Sebastian Fundora Wants the Jermell Charlo v Tim Tszyu Winner Next

On October 9, WBC Interim junior middleweight titlist Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (20-0-1, 13KO) put in another high-octane performance by defeating Carlos Ocampo (34-2, 22KO). He then proceeded to call for next against undisputed champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19KO).

Fundora will have to wait for his turn since the undisputed champion must first deal with WBO mandatory challenger Tim Tszyu. During the post-fight interview, the WBC interim champion expressed his willingness to be patient to challenge the winner of Charlo and Tszyu.

“I earned my spot. We will see what happens with those two […] I hope I have next.”

HEADING TOWARD THE UNDISPUTED CHAMPION

Fundora has been on the path toward to face Charlo for quite some time. On April 9, he picked up the WBC interim title in a Fight of the Year candidate over Erickson Lubin. That victory was pivotal in earning the number one spot to challenge the champion. The Towering Inferno was in attendance to see then-unified champion Charlo become undisputed and wasted no time calling for next.

Heading into 2023, Fundora is a critical player in one of the hottest divisions in boxing.
