Hanna Gabriels wants the winner of Shields v Dicaire

WBA female junior middleweight champion Hanna “La Amazona” Gabriels (20-2-1, 11ko) is still the champion and is ready to get back into the ring. Furthermore, if all goes according to plan, the Costa Rican champion wants a rematch with unified champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (10-0, 2ko).

The COVID-19 pandemic has put a halt to everyone’s plan. Moreover, the upcoming bout that was to crown an undisputed junior middleweight champion between IBF champion Marie-Eva Dicaire (17-0) and the self-proclaimed G.W.O.A.T (Greatest Woman Of All Time) was postponed. The most interesting fact is the WBA belt was supposedly going to be apart of the equation. However, the Costa Rican champion had a lot to say pertaining to the situation.

During a live interview on the 3kingsboxing Facebook page, La Amazona lays it all out.

“The WBA not only was the first sanctioning body, it set up how all the other sanctioning bodies work. They follow the procedure and they have their rules. They would have sent me a letter letting me know I was being stripped and all that.

The fact it was mentioned, it must have been a Team Claressa marketing plan to put pressure on the WBA to strip me of the belt and that would help them to get to their goal faster without me being an obstacle. Their goal is to become undisputed in all the division she goes in. By putting pressure, they thought the WBA would strip me and they would get to their goal sooner.

But of course, it didn’t happen. I am still the champion, and I am hoping that as soon as she is done with Eva, whoever wins faces me. That’s all I want and that is why I love the WBA so much, they are clean.”
