Ryan Garcia Denounced By WBC and His Family for Racist Rant
For “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20KO), the downward spiral has reached another level. In his recent anti-black social media rant that has gone viral, King Ry has come under heavy criticism as the WBC has taken action. In addition, the Garcia family has also issued a statement denouncing their son’s statement.
The boxing community is up in arms over Garcia’s outlandish racial rant that has been the main topic of the boxing news cycle. His explanation of a racial slur and admission of being raped has upset a lot of people.
THE BACKLASH
As president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman took to social media to expel Garcia from participating in activities. In addition, he revealed that the Californian has refused help dealing with mental illness.
Spanish newspaper MARCA has posted a statement from the Garcia family saying their son’s words are not a reflection of how he was raised.
“Our family unequivocally does not support any statements he has made regarding race or religion – these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised.”
“Ryan has been open about his ongoing struggle with mental health over the years and as a family, we are committed to ensuring and encouraging that he receives the necessary help to navigate this very challenging time and address both his immediate and long-term well-being.”
Keep in mind this comes a few days after his father, Henry Garcia, requested that his son seek therapy. Ryan Garcia claims to be religious but will talk about committing adultery with other fighter’s wives. This has also rubbed some fans the wrong way.
Garcia has reached a point where it will be hard to forgive or forget his actions. What should worry people the most is with everyone turning against him, his behavior will only escalate even more.
