Garcia Looks To Be Heading To 140

Garcia Appears Headed To Super Lightweight

WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia has been rumored to fight almost everybody by now it seems. The latest scoop on his next opponent according to sources closeto the negotiations is Sergey Lipinets in February.

Lipinets is the IBF super lightweight champion. He beat Akihoro Kondo on the undercard ofthe Deontay Wilder/Bermane Stiverne fight onNovember 4th. Lipinetsis currently 13-0 with 10 of those victories coming by knockout.

Garcia hasn’t been in the ring since his lopsided decision victory at 140lbs over Adrien Broner back in July. He has been rumored to face fellow lightweightchampions Jorge Linares and Robert Easter Jr as well as welterweight contender Omar Figueroa.

This fight would be more of a commitment to a full-time move up to super lightweight for Garcia. It’s an interesting move if it happens with oneof the biggest names in the in Vasyl Lomachenko getting readyto move to lightweight. If an agreement could be reached between those two I’m sure this move doesn’t hinder it at all.

  1. Oh boy now I got to hear about how he’s ducking Loma. When will fight fans realize these fighters ain’t ducking nobody but it’s all about the money. Thing is though it’s hard to defend Garcia after pulling out of what 3 fights recently?
