Ryan Garcia Announces January 2023 Return Fight
Three-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25KO) and arch-rival Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (23-0, 19KO) continue to trade shots in the build-up to their upcoming fight in 2023. Garcia has revealed a tune-up fight is next, but against who?
Fans were excited to learn about the Davis versus Garcia fight targeting a date in April 2023. In addition, Davis revealed a homecoming tune-up fight against WBA Super junior lightweight champion Hector Luis Garcia on January 7, 2023. This sparked questions as to whether Garcia would do the same. Well, King Ry, not to be outdone by his adversary, took to social media to announce a return in the same month as Tank. (Tweet here 031. Immediately the boxing community poured in suggestions for King Ry’s next foe. This triggered a heated exchange that got personal between the two arch-rivals.
WHO WILL GARCIA FIGHT FOR A TUNE-UP?
Garcia should choose a quality opponent that can best prepare him for Tank. Keep in mind that Garcia has faced southpaws in the past. The two that come to mind are former WBA junior lightweight champion Javier Fortuna and one-time title challenger Luke Campbell.
King Ry could keep the trend going by fighting southpaw fighters like former WBA 130-pound champion Jezzrel Corrales or Dominican Edwin De Los Santos. Boxing fans chimed in on social media, calling for Rolando “Rollie” Romero or former unified champion George Kambosos Jr.
Garcia has plenty of options to choose from. The boxing community is on standby, waiting to see who will get the call.
