Gervonta Davis Responds To Eddie Hearn’s Controversial Comment
WBA “regular” lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (28-0, 26KO) was not amused with Matchroom Boxing chairman Eddie Hearn’s colorful description of how he dealt with an outside distraction.
In the closing weeks prior to his victory over WBA junior lightweight champion Hector Luis Garcia, Davis had overcome false allegations of domestic violence by the mother of his child Vanessa Posso.
The Baltimore power-puncher is now focused on the upcoming showdown with former WBC interim champion Ryan “King Ry” Garcia on April 15. Mental toughness is something every fighter must possess. The ability to overcome distractions and push forward to victory is something to be admired.
TANK’S TRUTHFUL RESPONSE
During an interview with DAZN, Hearn stuck his foot in his mouth, attempting to show his admiration for Davis’s mental toughness.

The British promoter has come under heavy scrutiny for that cringe comment. In December 2022, he tried to sign the WBA champion upon his departure from Hall of Fame Inductee Floyd Mayweather’s promotional company Mayweather Promotions.
In a since-deleted tweet, Tank revealed a contract sent by Hearn offering him $10 million to fight King Ry on DAZN, which he never signed. So it’s not surprising Davis used the British promoter’s words against him as the reason he never accepted the offer.
