Hamzah Sheeraz Outclasses Berlanga and Eyes Canelo Fight
Super middleweight contender Hamzah Sheeraz ran over one-time title challenger “The Chosen One” Edgar Berlanga in five quick rounds. This victory has thrust Sheeraz into a possible title shot against undisputed champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in 2026.
Berlanga talked trash from the moment the fight was announced, but failed to back it up in the ring. Things were calm from the opening rounds until Sheeraz landed a thunderous combination that put the New York native on the canvas. He followed it up with another hard combination to score two knockdowns in round four.
In round five, Sheeraz forced the referee to stop the fight after landing more brutal shots. After the fight, he was told Turki Alalshikh wants to give him a fight with Canelo. During the post-fight interview, the British fighter made it clear what would happen in a fight against the undisputed champion.
“If I do get the opportunity to fight him, it won’t be one of those where I will try to nix it out on points. I will stand in the middle of him and have it out.”
Regardless of the outcome between Canelo and Terence Crawford in September, a clash with the Mexican champion will take place.
