Now is the Time for a Stevenson vs Davis Lightweight Unification

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ team should look to make a high-profile unification with WBC champion Shakur Stevenson. Davis’ rematch with Roach Jr. is in jeopardy following his domestic violence arrest on July 11. Seeing how his personal life seems to be coming apart, a fight with Stevenson should be a top priority.

Davis is no stranger to having run-ins with the justice system. He was placed on a 90-day house arrest for a hit-and-run accident. If he is still serving a three-year probation sentence, these recent domestic charges may have a huge impact on his ability to fight this year. With all the outside issues, it’s safe to think Tank won’t be fighting for much longer.

Stevenson is coming off a dominating performance against top contender William Zepeda. The WBC champion stood in the pocket and was able to avoid those big shots while landing counters at a high percentage.

Yet, boxing fans want to know if Fearless can handle Tank’s power, and if Davis can penetrate Stevenson’s superior defense. The time to make the fight is now.
