Robert Helenius Says his Power Should Be Respected by Wilder!
In the minds of countless fans, in his next bout, heavyweight contender Robert “The Nordic Nightmare” Helenius (31-3, 20 KO’s) is merely a former sparring partner. And it is true that the Swedish fighter was a former sparring partner to his next opponent, Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KO’s). Upon impact on their October 15 collision, a WBC title eliminator, it’s the common belief that Wilder will leave his forty-second adversary crumpled and unconscious on the canvas. Understandably, Helenius has a contrary opinion!
WHOLE NEW BALL GAME
According to his arithmetic, The Nordic Nightmare, ranked #2 (WBA) and #11 (WBC), doesn’t see his previously sharing the ring adding up to him being snuffed by Wilder. For him, the bigger gloves, flow of action and level of intensity in a sparring session versus a legitimate boxing match is radically different. Due to this, outside of a general sense of speed and power, Helenius believes he has numerous tricks up his sleeve to spring on Wilder.

Minus WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, there is no man that The Bronze Bomber fought who he didn’t stop. He even managed to drop Fury on the canvas in two out of three fights in their trilogy.
Given this staggering trail of carnage, it’s no wonder why Wilder’s stiff punch is so talked about and revered. Not as enamored as most, Helenius remembers that The Bronze Bomber is not the only one with folded fists stuffed in leather gloves.
“Well I think I am not without power! So you know, no one stopped [Adam] Kownacki before and no one stopped Erkan Teper. And even if you go back like ten years ago, before all of my injuries and my career-breaking contracts and stuff like that, I was knocking out Samuel Peters, Lamon Brewster, [Siarhei] Liakhovich. So I think he has to respect my power as well.”

Time will tell how The Nordic Nightmare is destined to perform on fight night, but he doesn’t have time to waste. Helenius, 38, can ill afford to lose and suffer a significant drop in the rankings. Therefore, if he wants to prove that he is more than a tool of preparation, then this is the fight to do it in!
