Jeff Horn eyeing both Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin for potential fights at 160
Former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn is looking to take on bigger foes in 2019!
Fresh off a first round destruction of former world champion and fellow countrymen Anthony Mundine in November. He has now set his sights on even bigger named fighters.
He wants to lock horns with unified champion Canelo Alvarez, as well as former middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin. Obviously both Alvarez and Golovkin would hold not only a significant advantage in the skills department against Horn, but also a size advantage.
Nevertheless, Horn is a big welterweight who could easily fight as a junior middleweight. His fight with Mundine was at a catch-weight of 156 pounds (technically middleweight), so maybe that performance and the fact that he says he felt strong led him to make these statements:
“I would like a big name, if we can. If we can get a Canelo, he’s a massive name in the sport and he’s beatable. He’s one of the best out there though, but he’s beatable as well.
“Even a Golovkin going up to the middleweights. Who knows? I like now that I’ve got three divisions that I could potentially get a world title at: welterweight, super welterweight and middleweight.”

Say whatever you want about Horn and his chances vs either man, however, you have to admire his confidence and belief in himself as well as his willingness to be great!
