Chris Eubank Jr. Suggests a Bout with Terence Crawford at 160
In a shocking potential turn of events, it appears that middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. (33-3, 24 KO’s) and unified welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31 KO’s) may lock horns next. This notion first took form when Eubank Jr. posted a would-be promotional picture to begin alerting the public.
MOVING ON UP?!
Crawford has been out of action since July of 2023 when he thoroughly outclassed and stopped former unified champion Errol Spence Jr.. The two were supposed to stage an immediate rematch, as dictated in their contract, but the time limit to hold that do-over has elapsed and Bud is moving on.
Over the last several months, Crawford has called for a showdown with undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. While many in the public were excited about this duel, this match-up seems to be dead in the water. Canelo has stated that he feels, if victorious, that he will not get credit for the win due to Crawford leaping up three divisions.
A SHOT AT THE BIG LEAGUES
In all honesty though, if the fight is actualized, there is likely to be a great deal of fans with flagrant attitudes. This would stem from the fact many will say that Eubank Jr. has not earned a fight of that magnitude. He has been out of action for nearly as long Bud, having last fought Liam Smith on September 2, 2023. In that duel, an immediate rematch, Eubank avenged his fourth round-stoppage with tenth-round TKO of his own.
Despite being ranked #1 (WBO), #3 (WBC) and #9 (WBA), this fight is definitely coming out of left field. At the same time, if Bud is planning on moving, which it seems he is, then this would not be a terrible opponent to test the waters against. Yet, again, at this point in time, Crawford versus Eubank Jr. is a rumor, at best. However, if there is more substance added then 3Kings Boxing will be eager to report the news! So, for the time being, let’s see what is real and not with this prizefight.
