Badou Jack eyeing Eleider Alvarez fight!
Former WBA light heavyweight champion Badou Jack wants a shot at newly crowned WBO champion Eleider Alvarez.
This is what he had to say on the matter:
“That’s a possibility [fighting Eleider Alvarez]. I think he’s going to have to do a rematch with Kovalev, if not I would love that fight, I know him, we sparred, he’s a good boxer, a pretty good boxer.”
He is coming off a draw with WBC champion Adonis Stevenson in May.
Alvarez stunned Kovalev and the rest of the boxing world when he scored a seventh round knockout over the former champion last month.
Ironically enough, Alvarez had been the WBC mandatory for three years. He was in line to face the winner of Stevenson-Jack after the WBC ordered the winner must face him next.
However, Alvarez was tired of waiting so he took an offer to fight Kovalev for the WBO title and it paid off. He’s now likely to face Kovalev in a rematch rumored to be in November.
Jack states his promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr is working on a “big fight” for him.
