Jaime Munguia Talks Being on the Undercard of Canelo-Golovkin 2

Munguia expresses his thoughts on being featured on the undercard of Canelo-GGG 2

Jaime Munguia (30-0, 25KOs) vs. Brandon Cook (20-1,13KOs) is official and will take place on the undercard of the rematch Canelo/Golovkin rematch.

Munguia stated:

“I am very motivated and thrilled to be on this type of card.” “This will be the largest and most important fight event this year. This opportunity is an honor to be fighting on this stage, supporting my fellow countryman, Canelo Alvarez on an extraordinary date for Mexico. This fight is for Mexico and all of its people. I will do my best to please the public and I won’t disappoint. Don’t miss Canelo vs. Golovkin 2”.

He has taken the boxing world by storm with his recent performances and action-packed style of boxing.

He came into existence this past May when he was considered a potential fill-in opponent for Gennady Golovkin. At the time, HBO and the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) did not believe Munguia was a credible opponent.

Obviously things have changed. Fortunately for Munguia, he has been able to rise into being a house-hold attraction in Mexico without having to take that kind of risk!

On the other hand, this will be Brandon Cook’s third attempt at having a fight made in the summer. Previously, he was scheduled to face Kell Brook on the Dillian Whyte vs Joseph Parker card on July 28.

After Brook pulled out due to conditioning issues in training, Sam Eggington filled the void. However, he would subsequently pull out due to a hand injury.

Now Cook will have an opportunity to become a champion September 15, whereas, the opportunity was not there previously.

Like they say “third time’s a charm!”
