Jaycob Gomez Floors Jerry Perez and Makes It Look Easy
In a loaded lightweight division, undefeated prospect Jaycob Gomez (11-0-1, 7KO) made quick and easy work of Jerry “The Joker” Perez (14-5-1, 11KO).
From the start of the bell, Gomez showed that he was the superior fighter to Perez. His footwork, jab, counterpunching, and ring awareness were on point.
After landing several hard shots against the ropes, Gomez landed a punishing counter left hook that put The Joker on the canvas. As the fight continued, the Puerto Rican kept up the pressure with hard shots to both, the body and head.
In round two, Perez crumbled to the canvas after being hit with another right hook. After taking several hard shots, he made it to the final bell only for the corner to inform the referee they were stopping the fight.
Despite putting on a one-sided performance, Gomez showed tremendous growth and has fought like a man on a mission since suffering a draw in 2022. The lightweight division is stacked with talent and Gomez seems primed to be one of the division’s future stars.
