George Kambosos Looking Towards a Fight with Vasyl Lomachenko
Unified lightweight champion George “Ferocious” Kambosos (20-0, 10 KO’s) has set social media on fire with his latest posts towards WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15 KO’s) and former unified champion Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KO’s).
After lifting the title belts from around the waist of Teofimo Lopez, Kambosos has been determined to get a big payday in his next fight. Boxing fans thought a fight with Haney was going to be next to take place after witnessing both fighters standing side by side acknowledging that a fight for true undisputed was next. Haney expressed a willingness to do whatever possible to make the fight happen, including traveling to Australia.
NOT SO FAST
It looked as if the two were going to fight. Then Kambosos dropped a poll asking the fans who they wanted to see him fight. It included the names of Haney, Lomachenko, Ryan Garcia, and three-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
A majority of the fans cast a vote for Lomachenko. Haney felt slighted and took to social media accusing Kambosos of trying to cause a bidding war. The two champions would continue trading verbal jabs in an intense exchange that saw Haney alluding to the unified champion possibly ducking him. Kambosos laid the blame at the feet of Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn for not sending over an offer.
KAMBOSOS REACHES OUT TO LOMA
Well, it looks as if things are not going to work out for an undisputed fight to take place after all, and Lomachenko could be the benefactor if it doesn’t. Kambosos took to social media with a jaw-dropping message that made fans raise their eyebrows.
Is the fight for true undisputed in trouble? It will be interesting to see what will happen next. As of this writing, there has been no response by Haney or Hearn regarding this tweet. However, Lomachenko did not waste any time responding. He made it known an offer was sent.
