Kazuto Ioka vs Takuma Inoue 2026 Bout Headed for Negotiations?
The final day of 2025 marked the return of four-division world champion Kazuto Ioka (32-4-1, 17 KOs). Looking ahead to 2026, the lower-weight boxing legend has made it clear that his ambition is to capture another world title, with a showdown against reigning WBC bantamweight champion Takuma Inoue (21-2, 5 KOs) firmly in his sights.
It was easy work for Ioka, who improved his record with a dominant fourth-round stoppage of Maikel Ordosgoitti. Body shots proved to be the decisive weapon, as Inoue’s vaunted left hook sent Ordosgoitti (15-2, 14 KOs) to the canvas twice in a commanding performance.
Ioka aims to become a five-division world champion by 2026 and appears to be clearly targeting Inoue. The WBC bantamweight titleholder captured the vacant crown with a unanimous decision victory over Tenshin Nasukawa in November 2025.
Inoue remains a major ticket-seller in Japan, with his popularity in his home country arguably at an all-time high. According to sources close to the situation, negotiations between the two camps could begin in the near future.
If the two sides are able to agree on terms, it would not be surprising to see an Ioka–Takuma Inoue clash land on the undercard of the proposed mega-fight between undisputed junior featherweight champion Naoya Inoue and three-division champion Junto Nakatani in the spring of 2026.
