Thurman Willing to Spin The Block For Tim Tszyu
In his latest call of duty, super welterweight boxer Tim “The Soul Taker” Tszyu (25-2, 18 KO’s) secured a much-needed victory. Quickly after the contest The Soul Taker called out former welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (31-1, 23 KO’s). The two were previously scheduled to fight before One-Time pulled out due to injury.
Following two back-to-back losses, Tszyu stopped Joey Spencer in a four-round destruction. Now that both men are healthy and have a fresh win under their belts, Thurman let it be known that he is more than willing to dance with Tszyu. One Time posted a response on social media.
“Congratulations Tim Tszyu … I don’t know about you boy, but I’m still hungry. Send the contract, I’ll sign it by tonight.”
Provided that everything continues to move smoothly and productively, we should be treated to a mid-year rumble in Australia.
THE FINAL TEST
Tszyu was the favorite given his youth, strength, and momentum two years ago. With his defeats, and brutal knockout specifically questions are swirling around The Soul Taker. Sure, Tszyu looked good against Spencer, who has never beaten anyone worth mentioning. So while the bout got Tszyu back in the win column and gave a jolt to his confidence, this was not a great duel to use as a true measuring stick.
In many respects, the same is true of the injury-prone Thurman. Yes, he looked splendid while dismantling Brock Javis, who has a severely pedestrian resume. It was great for Thurman to shake off the rust but we still need to see more before saying he is rightfully placed amongst the elite in the division.
A duel between Tszyu and Thurman is a solid match for the fans and a meaningful bout for the division. Let’s hope that everything stays on track and we finally get this interesting prizefight.
