Gustavo Lemos is Plenty Capable of Defeating Keyshawn Davis
Argentinian lightweight Gustavo “El Eléctrico” Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs) will be in enemy territory on November 8 when he faces Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (11-0, 7 KOs) in Davis’s hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. It’s a fight that will likely give Davis a rude awakening.
Lemos came onto the boxing radar in March 2022 when he scored a fifth-round stoppage over former featherweight champion Lee Selby in an IBF lightweight title eliminator. Since that outing, Lemos has suffered from lengthy spouts of inactivity.
In April 2024, El Eléctrico returned to action against Richardson Hitchins in an IBF eliminator at 140. Lemos lost a unanimous decision but gave Hitchins the fight of his life.
BETTER BE READY TO BACK UP YOUR BIG TALK
During pre-fight interviews, Davis said that he plans to give Lemos a beating. Don’t be surprised if it turns out to be the other way around. During an exclusive interview with Ring Magazine, the Argentinian warned that The Businessman better back up his words by coming to fight once the bell rings.
“He thinks he’s the best in the division or, he feels he’ll be the best one day. But first, he’ll have to go through me . . . Let’s hope that (Davis) will come to fight instead of getting on the bike in the first few rounds and run away from me.”
Davis is fast, skilled, and athletic. However, he’s also hittable and occasionally will fight in spurts. He’s never faced anyone who has the work-rate of Lemos. El Eléctrico is like a buzzsaw in boxing gloves. He has a very physical style, applies constant pressure, and has an inexhaustible gas tank. Davis must be in supreme shape and put some hurt on Lemos. If not, he will get overwhelmed by Lemos.
Davis wants to put on a show for his home crowd and believes a win will be a springboard to a world title shot in 2025. Lemos has similar world title aspirations. He’s ready to play the role of spoiler and ruin Davis’s dreams in the process.
