Vasiliy Lomachenko to Devin Haney “Stop lying, send the real contract”
Former unified lightweight champion Vasiliy “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (14-2, 10ko), is calling WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (25-0, 15ko) a liar after hearing news of the champion sending over a contract.
THE LONG HISTORY OF CHASING LOMACHENKO
The history between Loma and the WBC champion goes back to when Haney was the mandatory challenger to the former top pound-for-pound fighter. However, Team Lomachenko would request and received the WBC’s Franchise champion status.
Of course, being the Franchise champion, Loma was able to forgo fighting The Dream, and he pursued a Top Rank in-house fight with then IBF champion “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez. Loma would lose his unified championships and the Franchise belt in the process.
Things got seriously heated when the WBC champion took to social media. Haney was pondering the whereabouts of the former unified champion, indicating Loma has gone silent since losing to Lopez back on October 17, 2020.
Both fighters had a heated back-and-forth until finally Haney stated he is free for a fight in April or May, to which Loma responded by saying “I’ll be ready.”
THE INTERVIEW THAT KICKED IT OFF
The boxing community was hyped when it seemed that a fight between these two competitors would possibly take place. However, the news dropped that the WBC champion will be making a title defense against three-divisional champion Jorge Linares. Furthermore, the WBC champion has stated that given a choice, he would prefer to fight Lomachenko.
Recently, during an interview with boxingsweetscience2.0, Haney claimed the Linares fight is on pause while waiting to hear from Loma after sending over a contract.
“We not going to say that the Linares fight is official yet, because we have sent Loma an offer to fight. So we will see how that goes, and if he takes the fight, then that will be the fight.”
Once again, the boxing community went into a frenzy.
LOMA SAYING THE NEWS IS FALSE
During an interview with SNOWQUEENLA, the former unified champion revealed that Haney was blowing smoke up our pants, and he never received a contract.
“Devin stop lying. Send the real contract!”
“Devin stop lying. Why are you lying to people….Tell Eddie Hearn to send a written contract on paper.”
Hi-Tech also revealed that a conversation indeed took place between his manager Egis Klimas and the WBC champion’s father, Bill Haney. Team Loma made it clear they wanted the fight, but the conversation of a fight ended with just a phone call, which took place long before The Dream’s live interview.
