WBC confirms Vasiliy Lomachenko and Luke Campbell will officially fight for their vacant title!
3kingsboxing.com has learned a deal between unified lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko and WBC #1 challenger Luke Campbell has been reached!
According to WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, the fight will take place in London. That, however, remains up in the air until further confirmation from Arum and Hearn. If this indeed happens, it will be Lomachenko’s second time fighting out of the U.S. and his first inside the U.K. as a pro.
Charlie Edwards vs Julio Cesar Martinez will also be on the card, as Edwards would be putting his WBC flyweight championship on the line.
The deal comes before a purse bid that was scheduled for Wednesday June 26. Previous purse bids had been postponed by both, Bob Arum and Eddie Hearn, who were close to a deal.
Now, with the fight officially agreed to for August 31, expect an official announcement in the coming weeks!
