Montana Love Interested in a Rematch with Steve Spark!

When super lightweight boxer Montana “Too Pretty” Love (18-1-1, 9 KO’s) last slid in the ring, he had high ambitions. In that match, versus Steve “The Viking” Spark (16-2, 14 KO’s), Love was staging his second hometown fight in Cleveland, Ohio inside Rocket Mortgage Field House. During his previous bout in this arena, Too Pretty collected his career best win against Ivan Baranchyk. Rather than repeat his success, Love, 27, was headbutted, cut and ultimately disqualified for roughhousing tactics that resulted in his first professional loss.

Naturally, as he explained to ThaBoxingVoice, the Cleveland native is hungry and eager for a rematch.

“The fight that it was turning into is the fight that I was looking to do. We started off boxing, we know the man can’t last to late rounds so [we] let him shoot his wad, he was getting tired. We were trying to turn it into a dog fight at the back end of the fight because we know he was fading but the ref didn’t give us that opportunity.”

“[on a rematch]…if Steve wanted to do it again, we can definitely do it again right here! We gon’ bring the city out, the crowd going to be even bigger, it’s going to be amazing!”

MAYBE, MAYBE NOT!

It will be interesting to see how talks between the two camps proceed from this point. Prior to the fight, Spark entered as the underdog foreigner. After the match however, The Viking now has the victory and the secondary WBA Inter-Continental super lightweight title which he collected in the spoils of war. With this swift alteration in negotiating dynamics, Spark has no obligation to run it back with Love.

Therefore, The Viking and his team will have to weigh all their options. Of course, Love would love a rapid shot at revenge, but for the time being he will have to play the waiting game to see what Spark wants to do next. Yet, given the WWE Royal Rumble nature of the contest’s conclusion, it would not be shocking to find Spark going in another direction. Luckily, no matter how the cards may fall, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news.
