Erickson Lubin Remains Steadfast on Gaining Redemption in Fundora Rematch
Last April, super welterweights Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (24-2, 17 KO’s) and Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (20-1-1, 13 KO’s) fought in one war of a match. Ultimately, Fundora would win the Fight of the Year candidate by way of ninth round stoppage. With the win, Fundora took control of the interim WBC 154-pound title and was lined up for a showdown with undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo.
The Towering Inferno enjoyed this strategic position until recently losing a tragic upset seventh-round knockout to Brian Mendoza. Stripped of his perfect record and interim title, Fundora finds himself having to work his way back into title contention. Regardless of his change in fortune, Lubin still considers Fundora to be a prime adversary.
CROSSROADS
Given that both of the tough competitors are coming off crushing losses, perhaps a rematch is right on time. This would make for a great, high stakes duel that will no doubt be very fan-friendly. At the same time though, back-to-back losses would be detrimental to whoever failed to secure the victory. No matter who these pugilists choose to return to the ring against, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
