Machado wants showdown with Vargas
WBA super junior lightweight champion Alberto Machado wants a showdown with former WBC junior lightweight champion Francisco Vargas.
On October 27, he made his second title defense stopping Yuandale Evans in one round.
The powerful Puerto Rican made his way onto the radar of fans and media after three consecutive dominant performances.
While a fight with Vargas would provide guaranteed fireworks, it’s not a fight that many want to see. Also, Vargas at the age of 33 years old clearly has seen better days and most consider him as a shopworn fighter.
Machado has potential huge fights out there with fellow champions Gervonta Davis, Miguel Berchelt and Tevin Farmer.
While none of those fights are imminent, hopefully in 2019 we can see those guys battle it out for 130 pound supremacy.
